In December 2007, Opera Software filed a complaint with the European Commission. In January 2009, the latter formulated against Microsoft charges of abuse of dominant position with the tying of Internet Explorer with Windows, and thus equip IE about 90% of PCs worldwide.

The Microsoft Internet browser is still leader with 58.1% market share, it is in distress for several months (8 points lower in a year) and faces competition from other browsers, Mozilla Firefox in particular is in turn used by nearly one in three (32.5%). Free, it enjoys a good image in addition to better meet the standards, like Chrome, Opera or Safari which all three combined 8.6% market share.

After the recent publication of monthly updates, Microsoft has quickly warned that two critical bugs were not corrected. One is in Wordpad, the other in Internet Explorer. The latter is now corrected and Microsoft invites users to install the update properly. After seeing poll's result, I'm quite shocked seeing quite number of visitors dislike this new website. So I ran into stats and check for visitors' browser and found interesting things that over 50% of visitors still use Internet Explorer 6 which doesn't support alpha-blending in PNG image format, resulting the ultimately suck UI with white as background floor.
