El Capitan Transformation/UX Pack 1.0 Released – Brand new start with massive improvements!

El Capitan Transformation Pack 1.0

El Capitan Transformation Pack 1.0

After months and months of delay till El Capitan is released, it’s finally here. I’d like to publish with a brand new ‘Finderbar’ project but sadly, Lee is current busy with his real-life stuff and can’t finish the release anytime soon. So I guess we’ll have to wait until next version when he has more time to put his effort onto it.

But don’t worry, there’re couple of great things to be introduced in this new release.

Completed Windows 10 RTM support
After fixing issues in Windows 10 again and again thoroughly, we finally reached the stable stage where everything works out smoothly on current Windows 10 with all updates applied now. I reworked on system files modification a few times until it works right. I also fixed version detection issues and tested on real Windows 10 platform from scratch to make sure everything works fine. If you have trouble with Windows 10, please uninstall and run sfc /scannow before installing again. If that doesn’t work, consider reinstalling Windows 10.

OS X font rendering in Windows
While developing Finderbar software, I found font rendering looks terrible with Helvetica Neue font so I tried to find other rendering method and found something even more interesting. It’s called gdipp written by Japanese developer who can’t stand font rendering in Windows. It looks much better now with OS X style font rendering.

Tons of fixes and improvements
Aside from new wallpapers introduced in OS X El Capitan, there’s also a lot of internal improvements in this release as well like updating, fixing and refining stuff. Please read changelog for details since it’s a long list.

I don’t know if my fate was cursed with Finderbar. It never works out right in the end even though I’m currently using one right here and now. It’s still far from completed but it’s usable and working well for now. I wish Lee will great luck to go through his way out and have free time to continue it soon. We probably see it in next version.
