BitDefender announced the launch of free security solutions for Windows XP / Vista, contrary to what their names suggest: Anti-Phishing BitDefender Free Edition BitDefender and Chat Encryption.

Anti-Phishing BitDefender Free Edition is designed to offer the user protection against phishing via a toolbar that is added to its browser Internet Explorer or Firefox. A mechanism for black and white list or a list of phishing sites regularly updated and a list of trusted sites added by the user is engaged to ensure this protection. It should be noted however that the protection against phishing has become a quasi standard for browsers that proposed by default.

BitDefender's solution is also interested in filtering phishing links in instant messaging Yahoo! Messenger and Windows Live Messenger. An area of MI, which is also the case of more "exotic" BitDefender Chat Encryption.

BitDefender Chat Encryption ensures the encryption of instant messages exchanged via the two applications above, provided that one of the machines are all equipped of the two software. A "simple tool to exchange encrypted and fully protected," says the editor.
